Dolphin Beach

Dolphin Beach is a 30min drive from Cape Town International Airport in Table View. Cape Town is one of the best kitesurfing destinations worldwide in its windy session. Professionals from all over the globe come to Cape town to train for kitesurfing events here.
Dolphin beach is defiantly one of the most popular spots in Cape Town. It can get very busy on a windy day. Up to 150 kiters at the same time. They usually arrive after work in the late afternoon.

The beach at Dolphin beach is huge, so even though there is a lot of kiters, you don't have to worry about getting your lines crossed and tangled with others on the beach.
Dolphin Beach is an excellent spot for wave riding and freestyle.

Kite Spot - Dolphin Beach / Kite Beach

Best winds: October – March

Best Direction: SE to S

Also works: SSW, NW

Water Temp: 4/3 or 3/2

Water Type: Small to Big Waves

Beach Type: Sand and shells. This spot can get crowded

Riding Type: Wave-riding, Freestyle and Big Air

Experience: Beginner to Pro. One of the most popular spots

The swell is small-medium. Like mentioned before, this is a popular spot for kiters, but it is not so popular for SUP, surfers, and bodyboarders. Not because it isn't good, just because there is a lot of other spots that are better, like Big Bay.

So you don't have to worry too much about landing on top of a surfer, hiding behind the swell.

This spot is also perfect to start your downwinder. You will have kilometers of open ocean and waves also with lots of flat sections. The wind in the Blouberg blows in the summer from October - April with Dec-Feb being the best of it! The wind blows SE to S. The winds can get very strong here, 30-40 knots. The wind in the area is a nice cross-shore wind.

The nightlife gets very lively here and the City of Cape Town is only 30min drive away.
Table View and Dolphin beach is very accessible.
